Project overview

Located in Wuxi, Jiangsu Province, the project is officially titled the Huaguang Industrial Green Microgrid Project (hereinafter referred to as the "Huaguang Microgrid Project"). Supported by Huaguang Environmental & Energy Group Co., Ltd., the initiative aims to establish a demonstration industrial green microgrid across three sites—Meicun Branch Area A, Meicun Branch Area B, and the New Base Area—integrating seven types of distributed generation and four types of energy storage systems. The biomass gasification internal combustion engine power generation system constitutes one of these seven distributed generation types. The project involves the construction of a single biomass gasification-to-gas-engine power generation unit with a rated capacity of 300kW. This system employs an updraft fixed-bed gasifier—designed for the co-production of gas and charcoal—coupled with a 300 kW internal combustion generator set. The process utilizes the biomass gasifier to gasify woody forestry biomass feedstock, thereby producing combustible gas, which is then fed into the gas generator set to generate electricity. The project was completed in August 2025 and is currently not yet operational. Once commissioned, the project is projected to process 345 tons of forestry waste annually, generate 2.25 million kWh of electricity per year, and produce 62 tons of biomass charcoal annually.
