The project was put into operation in October 2021. The wood chips, wood blocks and other forestry wastes have been used as feedstock for an updraft fixed bed gasifier to produce biogas sent to an internal combustion generator set for power generation. The biochar is used as carbonized material to produce activated carbon. Since the operation, it has consumed 18,700 tons of forestry waste, generated 10.8 million kW.h of electricity, and produced about 1,350 tons of activated carbon annually. It has replaced 9,500 tons of standard coal, representing a reduction on CO2 emissions by 23,600 tons annually.
